Fancy a challenge, in an adventurous outdoor role? Working at a Girlguiding Training and Activity Centre could be for you!

Girlguiding are currently recruiting for various roles at their Training and Activity Centres at Blackland Farm (Sussex), Foxlease (Hampshire), Waddow Hall (Lancashire). Activity Instructor:

As an Activity Instructor you will be the one to take groups of all ages on their adventures at Girlguiding’s Training and Activity Centres! Ensure safe and effective operation is upheld at all times, by regular maintenance and testing of equipment, you will be responsible for the planning and leading of activity sessions, which range from abseiling to archery, canoeing to rock climbing and much more!

Requirements of the role are:

Two NGB qualifications/a recognised equivalent (see site for details) OR significant experience along with the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

For insurance purposes applicants must 18 years+.

Trainee Activity Instructors:

Trainee Activity Instructors train onsite, building your experience and confidence, so that once qualified you’ll be responsible for the instruction of sessions, for groups of all ages, at one of Girlguiding’s three Training and Activity Centres. Your day to day duties will be determined by your line manager and will depend on the training qualifications you have, but could include activities from archery to zip wires!

Requirements of the role are:

You must be enthusiastic and willing to undertake the appropriate training to gain new qualifications. You will need the ability to communicate effectively with customers of all ages, run safe and enjoyable activity sessions and work as part of a team and on your own initiative. For insurance purposes applicants must be 18 years+.

Apprentice Activity Instructor:

As an Apprentice Activity Instructor you will be working towards gaining your Level 2 NVQ certificate in Activity Leadership. To do so you will be keeping yourself busy as you assist with the instruction of  a range of activities - including canoeing, archery and climbing; as well as being responsible for the correct storage, maintenance and testing of equipment; whilst completing set work that will be monitored for the duration of the course by Locomotivation.

Requirements of the role are:

No specific qualifications are required for this role as full training will be provided. But you must be enthusiastic and have the ability to communicate effectively with customers of all ages. You will need to be able to prioritise your workload and complete work within set within timescales.

General Assistant:

General Assistants are vital for the smooth running of Girlguiding Training and Activity Centres. Your jobs will be varied, often acting as the first point of contact for our customers, you will be a key part in helping to make sure their visit is as enjoyable as possible! Including the monitoring of camp and self-catering equipment, ensuring equipment is stored appropriately and fit for use, as well as assisting in the delivery of conferences and events and working within our on-site retail outlets.

Requirements of the role are:

A positive and outgoing personality is important: with the ability to use your own initiative as you will need to prioritise workload and complete tasks without constant supervision, as well as working as part of a team. The ability to use appropriate cleaning techniques for camp and self-catering equipment is a bonus.
